Physical appearance: Brooks is estimated to be about 15 months old.  He is black and tan, with a docked tail and natural ears.

Personality: Brooks has the sweetest face on earth and the personality to match.  He’s a very sweet dog, but like any Doberman will push boundaries if they are not set.  He needs structure and as tempting as it may be to let him do whatever he wants, you can’t let him.  He will absolutely take advantage of the situation.  He is young, which means he has a ton of energy and wants to play all day long.  To adopt Brooks, you must have a fence so he can run and play in the yard and get some of that energy out.

Why he’s in rescue: Brooks ended up in animal control because his family could no longer care for him.  He was incredibly emaciated weighing only 37lbs when he arrived at the shelter.  We don’t know the details of what happened to him before his arrival at the shelter, but this boy went through a lot and will need your patience as he grows into the Doberman he has always deserved to be.

Manners and training: This boy is eager to please and would LOVE to go to training classes.  He adores his foster mom and desperately wants to do what she is asking.  He plays great with his foster sister, who is a pushy female Doberman, and loves everyone he meets.  He is crate trained, does well on a leash, and is starting to learn basic commands like sit and lay down.  Since Brooks is still a playful puppy that is learning how to behave, a house with smaller children is not a good idea since he will easily knock them over in his exuberance.  The perfect home would be a home that will spend time training Brooks and teaching him new things, with older kids and another female dog to play with.  Brooks will not be adopted to a home with any male dogs.

Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, neutered and microchipped before adoption.
