Carly is an 11-month-old melanistic Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail.  She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, negative for heartworm and intestinal parasites and microchipped.

Carly came into recue with her sisters Joss and Lulu as well as another male Doberman that may or may not be their dad.  They were found by a realtor on the back of a client’s property and she convinced the owner to surrender them to rescue.  All were incredibly thing and there was no food or water in sight on an incredibly hot summer day.  We got them into rescue and to the vet immediately.  Luckily, we got them there in time and their physical condition was not dire, but emotionally these guys need a bit of work.

Carly was a scared mess when she arrived in foster.  She was afraid of the crate and afraid that her new mom wouldn’t come home.  She has now had time to decompress and has learned that everything is fine.  She adores her foster brother so we recommend a confident male dog in her new home over a female, since she is nervous around her foster sister.  She looks up to her foster brother to know that new things are okay and nothing to be afraid of.  She is a fast learner and is getting some basic obedience and manners in her new home but will definitely need that continued once she is adopted.  She is way too sensitive for leash corrections and they will force her to shut down.  She does fabulous with positive training.  She does well with the cats in the home, though she will chase them to play, so dog-savvy cats are probably best.  She is a wonderful cuddle-buddy and is happy to take in as much affection as you’re willing to give.
