Diva

Adoption fee: $275

Physical appearance: Diva is a female, black and tan Doberman with a docked tail and natural ears.  She’s approximatly 4 years old and average size for a female weighing in at 65lbs.

Personality: Diva did not have the easiest start to her life.  She lived outside and was used for breeding before making her way to rescue in 2017.  Her former owners listed her for sale as a pregnant female on Craigslist.  Once Diva came into our care it was immediately obvious her condition was much worse than the ad made it seem. Diva was emanciated, covered in fleas and in poor overall condition. She was taken to the vet immediately and it was discovered that she had lost the puppies and was suffering from multiple infections with the worse being a life threatening infection in her uterus. After she recovered from Pyometra, it took Diva some time to learn to be a normal and loved family member.  Even with all she had been through she is incredibly sweet and loving and adores people.  She does stil have some behaviors that are important to watch out for though.  She has a tendency to resource guard places she sees as “hers”.  Her spot on the couch is the main place she does this, so she needs a family that will provide her boundaries and not let that behavior escalate.  She also will cower if approached in a way that she perceives as threatening.  Because of her resource guarding we will not adopt Diva to a home with children.  She loves other dogs and did fine with the cat in the home, though she would chase him.  Diva has a lot of energy so a fenced in yard is ideal.  When inside she wants nothing more than to be cuddled and loved on.

Why she’s in rescue: Diva was adopted from us in 2017, but due to a divorce and working long hours, her family can’t give her the time and attention she needs and decided it would be best to find her a new home.

Manners and training: Diva is well behaved in the house but doesn’t really know any commands.  She is crate trained and potty trained.

Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites, spayed and microchipped before adoption.
