Dobbie

Adoption fee: $275

Physical appearance: Dobbie is a 3-year-old black and tan, male Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail.  Dobbie is currently weighing in at 63lbs, but he’s still a little skinny.  Once he gains some weight he will fill out and be standard size for a male Doberman.

Personality: Dobbie is a goofy, adorable, and energetic boy.  He is a strong-willed Doberman, so he needs a lot of stricture and boundaries to be happy and know what is expected of him.  If this isn’t provided, he will make his own rules and expect his family to follow them.  He does okay with female dogs but absolutely cannot be around males.  Because of his need for structure, small kids are also not a good fit, though teenagers and older will be fine.  He is playful and loves to run!  A large yard or pasture would be this boys dream and where he is clearly happiest.

Why he’s in rescue: Dobbie was previously adopted in 2020 but ended up needing more structure and boundaries than his adopters were willing to provide.  Without them, he was bullying the adopters to get what he wanted.  It was best for everyone that Dobbie come back to rescue and find a family better suited to his needs and the breed.

Manners and training: Dobbie is being fostered at Apex dog training and has been receiving a bunch of training to help provide the structure he so badly desires.  He knows how to sit, lay down, stay, go to his place, come when called and walk properly on a leash.  When it’s time to burn some extra energy, he knows how to use the doggy treadmill, though he will try and cut corners by standing on the edge so only 2 of his legs have to do any work!  Dobbie requires a fenced in yard to run and play in.  He is crate trained, potty trained, and has great house manners.

Vetting: All of our dogs are brought up to date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, neutered and microchipped before adoption.
