Physical appearance: Frost is a 3-year-old female Doberman with cropped ears and a docked tail.  She’s a petite girl, but don’t let her size fool you!  She’s still quite strong.

Personality: This little girl is adorable.  She’s very affectionate and loves to meet new people, however she was not socialized a ton in her life so new situations and places do scare her.  She will need someone who is willing to take her to new places and expose her to new things to help make her more confident outside of her home.  She loves to play with her foster brother, but she can be dominant and doesn’t like to lose.  When initially arriving in rescue, she would resource guard certain toys and stand her ground should another dog try and take them.  This has greatly improved through the dilligence of her foster mom, but could reappear in her new home.  Because of this, we will require Frost to be adopted to an experienced Doberman home, and will not adopt her to a home with small kids.  She is great with people, but small children can be viewed differently, and we won’t take any chances.  Older children at least 13 years old would be fine. Her energy is on the higher side so she needs lots of exercise and mental stimulation.

Why she’s in rescue: Frost came into rescue when her parents split up and neither could afford to take care of her on their own.

Manners and training: Frost had no training or manners whatsoever when arriving in rescue, but her foster mom has worked with her quite a bit and she has greatly improved.  She is crate trained and will go in with some coaxing, but she does get defensive of her crate and bark if another dog approaches.  If left outside of her crate unsupervised she will get into things and destroy stuff so while she learns how to behave in the house, she will need to be monitored.  She is potty trained and has not had any accidents inside.  Her leash manners are pretty good.  She will pull but quickly comes back when corrected.

Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, spayed and microchipped before adoption.
