Junior

Adoption fee: $175

Physical appearance: Junior is a 7-year-old male, black and tan Doberman with a docked tail and natural ears.  She’s average size for a male Doberman at 76lbs.

Personality: Junior is an absolute gentleman.  He’s tall, so he can be intimidating, but he adores people and just wants to play and get attention.  He falls head over heels for his people, which if you’re not careful, he could end up with some separation anxiety.  He is also very protective of his home and will bark and alert if someone he doesn’t know tries to come in without warning.  If you introduce him to your guests, like a good Doberman, he will accept them and be eager to get to know them.  Junior does great with everyone, be it cat, dog, human, or other.  He is sweet with kids and gentle with his feline friends.  Don’t let his age fool you either, he LOVES to play and will gladly play keep away with his ball int he yard.  He is also an excellent cuddle buddy.

Why he’s in rescue: Unfortunately for Junior, his dad passed away.  Because he was very much his dad’s dog, his mom no longer wanted him and instead of rehoming him or bringing him to the shelter, she tied him to the fence and moved away.  Luckily, the neighbors saw what happened and called animal control.  They immediately called us and there was no way we could let him down after losing his family now twice.

Manners and training: Overall, Junior is great in the house.  He is potty trained and has not had any accidents.  He is not crate trained however, and will flip out if crated.  SO long as you make sure to either block off the kitchen or make sure there is no trash or food he can get into, he will behave himself while you’re out.  If you do leave food out and leave him free while you go out, there is a 100% chance he will get into it.  His leash manners are pretty good and he doesn’t really pull that much so long as you give a verbal correction.  He knows how to sit, lay down, and is pretty decent at stay.

Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites, neutered and microchipped before adoption.
