Rebel is a 1 year old black and tan, male, Doberman with cropped ears and a docked tail. He is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, micro-chipped, and negative for heart worms and intestinal parasites.

Rebel came to GDR along with 3 other male Dobermans that were part of a cruelty case.  All 4 boys were living outside with minimal human contact, fighting for what food was available, and doing what they had to survive. It wasn’t until a couple of them got out of the fence and were running free in the neighborhood that they were picked up by animal control and given a second chance.

Rebel is a Velcro dog to the max and thrives on attention. He absolutely hates his crate, so his foster is still working on crate training by slowly building up the amount of time he spends in it. He sleeps with them all night and doesn’t get off the bed a single time. It took a little while, but he is now potty-trained!

Rebel has a TON of energy and would do well with a very active family that can help him burn it off. He goes for several walks a day as well as plenty of playtime in the backyard with his foster sister, and he’s still ready to play when everyone else is tired. Playing ball is his favorite, and a fenced yard is a must for him. A canine-sister would definitely make him happy. He will not be homed with any male dogs due to the likelihood of same-sex aggression. He has started learning some basic commands such as sit, down, shake and walking on a leash and has great recall.  He just wants to please you! He tolerates cats and has not been aggressive to them but he will chase/bark when they run. When he cannot be left unattended as he does like to get into things and chew them up if you aren’t watching him. If he is left alone in the backyard he loves to entertain himself with some serious digging. Overall, if he is exercised enough, he is a dream. To help him continue to transition into the house-life, as well as teach him new basic manners, Rebel will be required to attend basic obedience training when he is adopted.
