Stormy & Misty

Adoption fee: $550 for both girls

Physical appearance: Stormy is a red female with natural ears and a docked tail.  She is estimated to be about 3 and a half years old and is average size for a female weighing in at 66lbs.  Misty is the smaller of the two at about 55lbs, also red with natural ears and a docked tail.  Misty is estimated to be about a year old.

Personality: Stormy and Misty are a bonded pair that will only be adopter out together.  When Misty went to the vet without Stormy to be spayed, Stormy started licking and showing signs of severe anxiety.  This confirmed to us that they were best kept together since we want them to be happy and live their best lives.  That said, what’s better than one crazy redhead?  TWO crazy redheads.  Stormy and Misty are as sweet as can be and LOVE attention.  They do fine with other dogs but prefer the company of each other over any other canine friends.  These girls are definitely not small animal and cat friendly.  The foster has cats and they spend a lot of time trying to get into the room where they are kept separate.  They have a ton of energy and need both mental and physical stimulation.  Luckily the fact they love to play with each other does help burn some of it off.  Since they can be nippy during play and when asking for affection, we will not home them to a family with small kids that they could scare or knock over.

Why she’s in rescue: Stormy and Misty both came into rescue after they kept jumping their fence and running around the neighborhood killing chickens and rabbits.  Animal Control picked them up on numerous occasions and finally got the owners to surrender the dogs.

Manners and training: Coming into rescue their house manners were terrible, but they’ve been improving over time.  They cannot be left out unsupervised and need to be crated anytime they can’t be watched, otherwise they may try to do outside play inside your living room.  They do well in their crates and are wonderful dogs, just a bit rough around the edges while they learn their manners.  A yard with a 6 foot privacy fence is required to adopt them as they will climb and jump smaller fences or chainlink.

Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, spayed and microchipped before adoption.
