Complete An Adoption Application
To start the adoption process, we require all applicants to fill out an adoption application. We do recognize this application is long, but it covers a number of aspects that we have found to be vital in assessing which of our dogs is appropriate for your home. If for some reason you are having difficulty completing the adoption application online, we also have it available as a PDF or Word document.
Our Available Dobermans
We have several Dobermans available looking for their forever homes. If you don’t see a Doberman that would be a good fit for your family, we recommend you contact us and apply without a specific Doberman in mind. We are told about Dobermans in need daily, and if we know what you are looking for and a Doberman that may fit your home needs rescue, we can make sure to prioritize getting it into rescue.
Happy TailsWe work hard to make sure we make the right match for all of our adopters and their whole family. We think we do a pretty good job, but don't take our word for it. Read Testimonials
The application allows us to get to know your home and family situation and find the best match for you. We ask that you please also include photos of your home and if you rent, a letter from your landlord. We realize that our application is long, but it is designed to help us make the best match for you and your family. We try and review all applications within 48 hours.
GDR will make the appropriate reference checks with veterinarians and if needed, personal references. All current pets in the home must be up to date on vaccinations, on heart worm preventative and spayed or neutered. Please be sure that you call your vet’s office and personal references and let them know that a GDR representative will be contacting them.
The home visit is an important part of our adoption process as this is where we get to know you and your family better, see your lifestyle and get a feel for how our rescued Doberman would fit in with your family and other pets. Out of respect for our fosters, we do not schedule meet and greets until after home visits are complete.
GDR board members will review the above and hold a vote to approve or reject . We will notify applicants regardless of our decision. If you are approved, we will then complete the appropriate adoption paperwork and finalize the adoption. When possible, one of our board members will meet with adopters to finalize the adoption in person.
