Overview:
Georgia Doberman Rescue is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to fill the position of Intake Coordinator. As the Intake Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing the intake process of Dobermans into our rescue program. Your role is crucial in ensuring the smooth transition of dogs into our care, coordinating with shelters and owners, and assessing the needs of incoming Dobermans.
This position may require flexibility in working hours, especially during periods of increased intake or emergency situations. The Intake Coordinator plays a vital role in the rescue’s mission to provide quality care and placement for Dobermans in need. A commitment to the rescue’s values and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of volunteers is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Intake Planning and Coordination: Work closely with shelters, animal control, owners, and other sources to coordinate the intake of Dobermans into the rescue. Plan and organize the logistics of transporting dogs to foster homes or the rescue facility.
- Initial Assessments: Conduct initial assessments of incoming Dobermans, including reviewing medical records and behavioral assessments. Coordinate veterinary care and necessary medical procedures for newly rescued Dobermans.
- Foster Placement: Collaborate with the foster coordinator to identify suitable foster homes for incoming Dobermans. Provide foster families with relevant information about the health, behavior, and special needs of the incoming dogs.
- Documentation and Records: Maintain accurate and detailed records of each Doberman entering the rescue, including medical history and behavioral observations. Ensure all required paperwork, such as surrender agreements and medical records, is complete and organized.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with shelter staff, transport coordinators, and foster families to facilitate a smooth intake process. Provide timely updates to the rescue team on incoming Dobermans and any urgent situations.
- Transport Coordination: Work with the Transport coordinator to arrange and coordinate transportation for incoming Dobermans, ensuring their safe and comfortable transfer to the rescue facility or foster homes.

Adoption Coordinator
Overview:
As an Adoption Coordinator for Georgia Doberman Rescue, you will play a crucial role in finding loving and permanent homes for our rescue Dobermans. You will be responsible for managing the adoption process from initial application review to post-adoption follow-up. Your passion for animal welfare, strong communication skills, and attention to detail will contribute to the success of our organization in placing Dobermans in safe, knowledgable, and caring homes.
The Adoption Coordinator reports to the Board of Directors. This is a volunteer position so hours are flexible and work is generally done as you are able, however we strive for a turn around time of 24 hours or less.
A genuine commitment to the well-being of Dobermans and the ability to work collaboratively with a dedicated team of volunteers are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Application Review: Thoroughly review adoption applications to ensure potential adopters meet the rescue’s criteria. Conduct initial screenings and interviews to assess compatibility between the adopter and the Doberman.
- Home Visits: Organize and conduct home visits to evaluate the suitability of the adopter’s environment for a Doberman. Provide guidance and recommendations for necessary adjustments to ensure a safe and secure living space.
- Phone Interviews: Coordinate, schedule, and sometimes conduct phone interviews with adopters. Provide guidance and education to ensure a safe and successful transition for Dobermans into their new home.
- Matching Process: Work closely with the foster coordinator and foster families to understand the individual needs and personalities of each Doberman in their care. Use this knowledge to match potential adopters with Dobermans that align with their lifestyle and preferences.
- Communication and Education: Communicate effectively with potential adopters, foster families, and other team members. Provide education on Doberman care, behavior, and training to adopters to ensure successful transitions.
- Adoption Process Management: Oversee the entire adoption process, including the completion of adoption contracts, payment of adoption fees, dispursal of medical records, and associated paperwork. Facilitate board votes on completed adoption steps. Facilitate the transportation of Dobermans to their new homes when necessary.
- Post-Adoption Follow-Up: Conduct follow-up checks with adopters to ensure the well-being and adjustment of the adopted Doberman. Provide ongoing support and resources to adopters as needed.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all foster homes, foster dogs, and their statuses in the GDR database.

- Placement Coordination: Match rescued Dobermans with appropriate foster homes based on the dogs’ needs and foster home capabilities.
- Support and Communication: Provide ongoing support to foster families, including regular check-ins, addressing concerns, and providing necessary resources.
- Training and Education: Conduct orientation sessions and training for new foster families on GDR policies, procedures, and dog care best practices.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all foster homes, foster dogs, and their statuses in the GDR database.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the GDR team, including intake and adoption coordinators, to ensure the well-being and smooth transition of foster dogs.
- Community Engagement: Represent GDR at community events and foster program promotions to raise awareness and recruit new foster families.

- Record Keeping: Accurately document the information obtained from veterinary references and update the GDR database.
- Follow-Up Communication: Provide feedback and communicate any concerns or recommendations with the GDR team.
- Training and Guidelines: Participate in initial training and adhere to GDR’s guidelines and procedures for vet reference checks.
- Coordination: Manage and schedule reference check appointments as needed.
