Board of Directors & Volunteers

We feel it’s important for people to know who is behind a rescue so they know who they are working with to find their new family member. All of our Directors have several years of experience with Dobermans, and have Dobermans of their own. We share a passion for the breed and it has brought us together to do what we can to help the Dobermans in need around Georgia.

Board of Directors

Danielle Ranieri

President

Danielle’s love for Dobermans started when she was young and never faded.  Determined to have one of her own, her and her husband Joe brought home Kano, which only deepened their love affair with the breed.  Danielle had worked with several Doberman rescues before she, Suzanne and Meredith decided to start GDR.

Danielle is currently living in Seattle, WA and working for Amazon Prime as a Sr. UX Designer while her husband holds down the fort in Georgia.  With Amazon being incredibly dog friendly, Kano gets to go to work with her and is easily the favorite team member.  She has her MFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design and helps out a number of non-profits with design needs on the side.

Shelley Belknap and her Dobermans Diesel, Pippa, and Scarlett

Shelley Belknap

Secretary

Shelley’s love of Dobermans evolved from her love of horses while dog-sitting for a barn friend who was deployed to the middle east. It didn’t take long for the unique personality of the breed to convince her that she needed one (or three) of her own. She became involved with Georgia Doberman Rescue early on as a foster and acted as the Foster and Adoption Coordinator before becoming the Secretary.

Shelley lives in Reno, Nevada with her husband, Jon, and their two Dobermans – Pippa and Jett. She received her BS in chemistry from Georgia College and State University and is currently working on her MBA at Mercer University. Shelley is a Battery Chemist for Tesla and previously worked in industrial research and development and forensics.

Meredith Pretzie

Director of Information

Meredith is a stay at home “Mom” to her 3 Dobermans Gunnar, Ronan, and Dara and two horses. She was previously employed by the University of Florida CREC as a grant administrator and by Lockheed Martin as an account analyst. She lives with her husband David near Birmingham Alabama.

Meredith has been involved in animal rescue for several years, first with the local shelter as a volunteer / advocate, and more recently in breed specific rescue as a board member, director and foster. She loves all animals but Dobermans are her passion and she loves bringing rescued Dobermans together with loving families.  With her years of experience guiding fosters and adopters through just about every scenario possible, you will be guaranteed to have a chat with her before bringing home your new family member to make sure the transition is nice and smooth.
