Meet Zeus: The Big, Loveable Goofball Who Just Needs the Right Kingdom
Hey there, I’m Zeus! I’m a 4-year-old male Doberman with cropped ears, a docked tail, and a whole lot of dog — 110 pounds of pure, unapologetic sweetness. I am a big, goofy, affectionate boy who will be your best friend approximately 30 seconds after meeting you. I’m looking for my perfect home, and I have some specific needs, so read on — if you’re the right match, I promise I am SO worth it.
Personality: I am a lover, full stop. I will find you, lean on you, and make it very clear that you are my favorite person on the planet. I’m an indoor dog through and through — I prefer the AC, the couch, and your company over basically anything else. That said, if you’re outside with me or there’s a small critter to chase, I’ll enjoy some yard time. Fair warning: I will absolutely keep your yard squirrel-free, and while I won’t jump a fence, I will dig if I’m bored or unsupervised outside — so eyes on me when we’re out there, please.
My Story: I came into rescue because of same-sex aggression and littermate syndrome with my brother. The two of us had to be completely separated, and my family made the hard but loving decision that neither of us deserved to live that way. It wasn’t sustainable, and they knew it. This isn’t a behavior problem that training can fix — it’s just who I am, and it means I need to be the only male in the home, period.
More recently, I had an incident with a child that resulted in my foster placement. Because of this, I cannot be adopted into a home with children or a home where children are frequent visitors. This is a firm requirement, not a guideline. I need a calm, adult-only environment where I can be set up to succeed.
Kids, Dogs & Other Animals:
- No children in the home, and no homes where kids regularly visit
- No male dogs — absolutely non-negotiable, no exceptions
- Female dogs only, and I do well with them!
- No cats, no small animals — my prey drive is very high and I will go after them
Manners & Training: I’m a smart boy and a fast learner. I already know sit, wait, and stay. I’m crate trained and will hang out in my crate quietly — the only reason I’ll fuss is if I need to go out. I have excellent house manners: no begging, no counter surfing, fully potty trained. I walk best on a head halter — I will pull a bit on a regular collar, so we’ll need to work on that together. I’ll thrive in a home that loves to train because I genuinely love to learn.
One quirky little bonus: if I see someone get in a swimming pool, I will bark at them to get out. I had a scary experience with a pool as a puppy and I have decided that pools are dangerous and everyone needs to know it. Just a heads up.
Health & Vetting: Zeus is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo vaccines. He’s heartworm negative and negative for intestinal parasites. Physically, he’s a big, healthy boy.
Why You’ll Love Him: Zeus wants one thing — to be near his people. He is affectionate, goofy, well-mannered, and genuinely easy to love. He just needs an adult home that understands his history, respects his boundaries, and gives him the stable, structured environment he deserves. If that’s you, this big boy has a whole lot of love to give.
Ready to be his favorite person? ❤️
Love, Zeus
