Meet Jussie: The Happy-Go-Lucky Girl Who Just Wants to Play (And Eat)

Hey there, I’m Jussie! I’m a 9-year-old black and tan Doberman with natural ears, a docked tail, and an endless supply of enthusiasm for life. I am a happy, bouncy, playful girl who greets every single day like it’s the best day ever — because honestly? It might be. Oh, and I come with my ride-or-die best girl, Kokie. We’re a bonded pair and we go together. Trust me, you want us both.

Personality: I am pure joy in a Doberman-shaped package. I will come up to you and gently nibble your hand just to say please pet me, I like you so much. It’s my signature move and everyone loves it. I play hard — my foster brother Obi (also a Doberman) and I have a full wrestling match every single morning without fail, while Kokie watches us like the refined lady she is. I have energy, I have opinions, and I have an absolutely unhinged relationship with food.

Speaking of food: mealtime is a spiritual experience for me. I do a full spin-around dance while my bowl is being prepared. It cannot be stopped. It will not be stopped. I also eat extremely fast, so my foster family has me using a slow feeder bowl — it’s helped a lot, and my new home will want to continue that.

My Story: Kokie and I lost our owner, the person who had us both for years, and it changed everything. We came into rescue together because that’s the only way we go — together. Kokie is my anchor. I am her entertainment. We have been side by side for over six years and we are not starting over without each other. The good news? We are genuinely easy to love as a pair. Kokie is calm and cuddly. I am bouncy and playful. We balance each other out perfectly.

Kokie & Jussie: Kokie is my best friend and honestly my whole heart. She’s the calm to my chaos. While I’m out there wrestling and spinning and living my best life, she’s watching from the couch like a proud, slightly exhausted mom. I can’t get on the couch myself — I just put my front paws up so my people can reach me for pets — but Kokie holds down the cuddle fort for both of us. We are a team.

Manners & Training: I know sit — it sometimes takes a little coaxing with a treat, but I’ll get there. I stop immediately when told “no” and stand right at attention, which my foster family loves. I’m still working on leash manners — I tug quite a bit — so a patient, experienced handler will get the best out of me. I’m a little more independent than Kokie, but I’m still very people-oriented and I love being around my humans.

Other Animals: I live with other dogs in foster and we get along great — including the daily Doberman wrestling matches, which I consider essential. Cats are an unknown quantity for both me and Kokie, so slow introductions would be the smart move.

Health & Vetting: I’m spayed, microchipped, and up to date on rabies, distemper, and Bordetella. Heartworm negative and negative for intestinal parasites.
