Meet Milo: Your Sensitive, Sweater-Wearing Shadow
Hi, I’m Milo! I’m a fawn male Doberman (born November 2024) with cropped but adorably floppy ears and a docked tail. I’m handsome, athletic, and look fantastic in a sweater when it’s cold, which I fully expect you to provide.
A Little About Me:
Personality:
I’m playful, loving, and high-energy, but I also have a sensitive soul. I came from a neglect situation where I spent most of my time crated in a garage, so new situations can make me nervous. Because of that, I thrive with structure, routine, and calm leadership.
I love my people deeply, like, Velcro-level deeply. I want nothing more than to make you happy and be loved on. I just need a little time to warm up to new humans. Once I trust you? I’m yours.
I get along great with female dogs (I have a lady friend in my foster home now), but absolutely no male dogs for me.
My Story:
My early life wasn’t what it should have been. I didn’t get the stability or care I deserved, and it left me with some anxiety. Luckily I was saved by my foster family, but they know that they are not the best home for me long term so they reached out to the rescue to find the home from that is. The good news? I’m already improving with consistency and patience. I’m currently on medication to help manage my anxiety, and with the right home, I can continue to relax and grow.
Manners and Training:
I’m a quick learner and already know how to sit and ring a bell at the door when I need to go outside (yes, I’m that smart). I walk beautifully on a gentle leader and am not reactive to dogs or people on walks.
Now for full transparency: I have strong fears around nail trims and ear cleanings. I will shake and may nip if you rush me. This is clearly tied to bad past experiences. I must wear a soft muzzle during those activities, and they need to be handled slowly and calmly. Outside of that specific scenario, I do not have aggression toward people.
I do best in a home with a strict routine, clear structure, and calm, confident leadership. A quieter environment will help me feel safe and steady. Because I need predictability, I’m not a match for homes with small children.
Special Considerations:
I need to live with female dogs only, and introductions should always be thoughtful and structured. Ongoing anxiety management will be part of my life, and grooming tasks like nail trims and ear cleanings must be handled patiently and safely with a muzzle. With the right leadership and consistency, I absolutely thrive — but I am not a “wing it and hope for the best” kind of dog.
Health and Vetting:
I’m neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and negative for intestinal parasites. Physically healthy and ready to go.
Why You’ll Love Me:
Underneath my nerves is a deeply loyal, affectionate boy who wants nothing more than to belong. Give me structure, patience, and consistency, and I will give you my whole heart. Plus, I look extremely cute in sweaters, which is obviously a major bonus.
I’m not the loudest dog in the room, I’m the one quietly choosing my person.
Maybe it’s you. ❤️
Love,
Milo
